Healthy Soles PT is a certified AposHealth® program provider. AposHealth® helps people with knee, lower back, and hip pain improve their quality of life by improving their gait.

The AposHealth® walking mechanics program is personally tailored to the unique needs of each patient. Over time, AposHealth® re-educates patients’ muscles to maintain the improved walking patterns even when not wearing the device.

This innovative program has been clinically proven to significantly reduce pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis, improve function, and quality of life.

How it works

By realigning and correcting the movements causing pain, AposHealth eliminates much of the pain, improving your body’s mechanics, muscular strength, and coordination. As you walk, the device shifts the weight-bearing away from the painful area, providing relief. Over time, wearing the device strengthens the muscles around your legs and joints, to maintain a healthier walk, even when you are not in the device.

Real World Results

A 2020 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that 92% of patients with knee osteoarthritis who were treated with AposHealth® reported more than a 30% reduction in pain while 83% reported more than a 50% reduction in pain.42 source: www.aposhealth.com

Getting started

Healthy Soles Physical Therapy is specifically trained to assess your condition and walking pattern, with the help of a computerized and clinical analysis. Based on our findings, we custom calibrate your footwear device. You’ll wear the device for regular activities within your home for about an hour a day. Over time, your body will learn to align itself properly resulting in long-lasting benefits.

If you suffer from knee pain, osteoarthritis, or back pain; if you’ve tried injections and pain killers; if you want to avoid surgery – talk to us today about trying AposHealth®.

When training for the Boston marathon, after my first 14-mile run, the longest I had ever run, the pain in my foot became nearly unbearable. The next thing I knew, I was in a boot with a stress fracture, unable to run. Rebecca Brown got me back on my feet, and with three weeks to go, I was able to get in my long run, and now I’m lacing up for 26.2 miles.

Sports Therapy

If you’ve had a sports injury, you don’t necessarily have to give up the activities you enjoy. We understand how the body moves in sports, how to re-educate muscle groups, and how to functionally strengthen important movement patterns.

Physical therapy is a non-addictive natural treatment that can help you avoid surgery or recover more completely after an operation.

We love bringing people back to the sports and activities they enjoy. Here are some of the common sports injuries we treat.

  • Rotator cuff strain/tear
  • Back and neck pain
  • Tennis and golfer’s elbow
  • Hip pain
  • IT Band syndrome
  • Stress fracture
  • Patellar tendonitis
  • ACL rehabilitation
  • Shin splints
  • Ankle sprain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis

Gait analysis and Shoe recommendations

It is amazing what we can learn simply by watching someone walk. We take a systematic approach to study your walking pattern and observing movement at the lower back, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. This gives us insight into your unique movement and any issues that might be causing you pain.

With this insight, we work with you to correct abnormalities, strengthen and stretch muscle groups, and choose appropriate walking and running shoes for your specific needs.

Rebecca, you have no idea what you’ve done for me. You listened to me cry about my knee and knew exactly how to fix me. Your guidance and friendship have been incredible, and they’ll never be words to express my gratitude for you.

Custom Orthotics

Sometimes the body needs a little extra help to maintain proper alignment. After a gait analysis, we might determine that you would benefit from the assistance of custom orthotics. Custom orthotics are devices that are inserted into your shoe to provide support for the foot by correcting reaction forces while standing, walking, running, or during sports activities.

Healthy Soles PT can evaluate your gait, measure and cast a personalized Biomechanical Orthotic solution for you to get you feeling and walking better.

Expectant mother pain relief

A big thanks to Rebecca Brown, physical therapist extraordinaire, for the ‘while you are pregnant’ exercises that made for yet another speedy, and easy, labor and delivery.

Maternal Wellness

As your body changes in pregnancy to accommodate your growing baby, you may experience pain and discomfort. Please don’t think that feeling pain is just something you must endure because you are pregnant! There are common issues that we see during pregnancy like pelvic, hip, and back pain. Physical therapy is a safe and effective way to take care of this pain. We can help you continue to exercise and be active without being in pain as well as prepare your body for childbirth.

We are also here after you have had your baby, when your pelvic floor and core muscles are understandably weakened, and you are navigating your body’s recovery while caring for a new baby.

Workplace assessment

Does your workplace have your back? The position you hold your body when standing or sitting at work has a major impact on your head, neck, shoulders, arms, and back.

Whereas 15 years ago, injuries like rotator cuff strain most often came from a throwing sport or falling injury, the most common cause now is bad posture.

Faulty workstations and workplace stress can result in chronic headaches and migraines, shoulder and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and trigger finger. Left untreated these have a progressively debilitating effect on your body and your quality of life.

Our therapists can evaluate your office or home workstation via a telehealth session or photos. We can recommend posture changes, and stretching and strengthening exercises to relieve pressure and pain. These simple changes and can significantly relieve your body day after day, bringing you a happier body and improved energy level.
